Wood Peg Design creates handmade wood jewelry, games and accessories. Our products come in many wood options and are sold at Makers Markets and Juried Craft Fairs from Pennsylvania to Maine. In those settings you deal directly with our team to find a unique product suited to your taste. We want you to have that same personal contact when buying on this website, so here’s how we’ll work with you.

ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
Our jewelry, tongs and other products are handmade in Lancaster, PA. You have a large selection of domestic and tropical hardwoods to choose from. Tongs are generally 10 1/2 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide with a 1 inch opening. Tong fingers are finely sanded to tight tolerances for maximum flexibility and strength.
Most of the products we make contain some domestic hardwood which we have upcycled. In its earlier life, the domestic wood in your tong was part of a table, cabinet, or other furniture piece. We hope you enjoy its second life with you.

HOW WE STARTED
This is Gabby, our two year old red poodle. Our business began one day in late 2021 when, like most days, Gabby decided to chew on something that did not belong to her. In this case it was an old, mass produced, wooden toast tong made overseas.
Convinced that I could build a better tong than I found online, I decided to design and hand make a replacement tong. Several iterations later, with encouragement from friends and family, I had a unique product to offer.
Today, many of our products are designed around the American flag. We inlay and bookmatch our products to emphasize the wood’s grain. Everything we make is still handmade, but now with the assist of advanced finishing tools that allow us to control tolerances to 1/1000 of an inch. The result is inlaid and designer quality products which are smooth, flexible, consistent, and a joy to use or wear. Even though our processes have evolved, each product still receives 15 minutes of hand sanding by me and 2 coats of mineral oil and beeswax to maintain softness and depth of color. Jewelry also receives several coats of hand rubbed varnish.
